Hello everyone! Great news for WhatsApp users? Meta is rolling out an amazing new feature that will help you protect your privacy even more. You can now sit back and enjoy knowing that no one can grab a screenshot of your screen. The privacy of your profile picture is protected.
While it’s still in the testing stages and hasn’t been officially announced, there is a lot of buzz about this feature that was spotted by TechCrunch and rolled out to a select few users. Those who are lucky enough to have access to the feature also seem to have it turned on by default.
So how does it work? Well, if anyone tries to copy your profile picture by using the screenshot feature on their smartphones, WhatsApp will notify you by saying that it is not allowed for policy reasons, Sources reported it.
People from android police tried it out and it seems to to be working, even if someone does screenshot your picture, your profile still pops up blank. So, it does seem to make a difference.
I know you might be thinking, “but what if i actually do need to get out of a situation by taking a screenshot, now what do i do?” rest assured! Android police have found a trick to still be able to snap a picture of the little pop out thingy. Just click on someone’s profile picture in the chat list and then take the screenshot.
Another feature of the Snapchat profile is privacy settings. If you don’t want everyone to see your profile picture, you can hide it.
WhatsApp is setting the new standard for protecting the privacy of its one billion users. WhatsApp now has end-to-end encryption making it the most secure messaging app on the market, even compared to messaging services like Signal and Telegram.
Congratulations, WhatsApp, for making chatting safer and less stressful by eliminating sneaky, scamming characters like these. 🎉
