Searching in Google Drive just got a lot easier for all iOS users! With new filtering options, you can find exactly what you’re looking for, faster. Just tap on the search box and you’ll see a set of filters that let you narrow down your search in a variety of ways. For example, to find the presentation you made two weeks ago, you can narrow your search by file type and date modified to see only the presentations you’ve worked on recently. Plus, as you type you’ll see filter suggestions so you can get to your file even faster.
Best of all, you don't even have to be a Google Workspace-type person or a paid subscriber to take advantage of these new features. No matter what sort of Google account you might be using on your iPhone – be it a freebie personal-level account or an account associated with a paid Google Workspace identity – the latest Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides apps are happily at your disposal. And if you're an Android user, never fear: This good stuff's on its way to you before you know it, too.
Can't remember the title of that video you found while doing late night research during the wild, wild west days of Drive? There goes your weekend, right? Nope, it's cool! You can now search by file type to help you find what you're looking for. Not only can you specify that you want to search through documents, rather than PDFs or Excel files, but you can enter a time range to help narrow it down. You know the video you want is from sixth grade, but you're not sure what the file is called. Search using the videos file type, set the custom range for the dates they exit Microsoft support.
Google really hit the ball out of the park with this update. No more upcoming suggestion chips and slideable filters; dropdown menus are where it's at! Simplicity at it's best!
